“We were in the presence of Abu Musa al- Ashari when he was brought some chicken meat. A man among the people thereupon turned away, so he asked him: ‘What is the matter?’ He replied: ‘I saw it eating something putrid, so I swore that I would not eat it.’ He said: ‘Draw near, for I have seen the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) eating the meat of chickens’!”
