The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to perform ablution with a mudd of water and wash with a sa up to five mudds.
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ
قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ بِالْمُدِّ وَيَغْتَسِلُ بِالصَّاعِ إِلَى خَمْسَةِ أَمْدَادٍ
