The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) stood up to deliver a sermon, and one of the things he said was: “Indeed, fear of people should not prevent a man from speaking the truth, if he knows it.” Then Abu Saeed wept and said: “By Allah, we have seen things that made us scared (and we did not speak up).”

Eba Said-i Hudri (r.a.)'den rivayet edildiğine göre: Resulullah (Sallallahu Aleyhi ve Sellem) kalkıp bir hutbe irad etmiş ve hutbesinde buyurduğu buyruklardan biri de: Bilmiş olunuz ki sakın halkın korkusu herhangi bir adam'ı hakkı bildiği zaman onu söylemekten kesinlikle alıkoymasm, buyruğuydu. Ravi demiştir ki : Sonra Ebü Said-i Hudri (r.a.) ağladı ve şöyle dedi: Allah'a yemin ederim ki biz muhakkak bazı şeyleri gördük de korktuk (söylemedik)

What it means

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) addressed his Companions, and among the advice he gave was that a Muslim should not be deterred by the fear or power of people from speaking the truth or commanding it when he sees or knows it.

What it teaches

  • Encouraging to reveal the truth and not conceal it out of fear of people.
  • Saying the truth does not mean disregarding politeness, wisdom, and good advice in the way it is said.
  • It is obligatory to denounce evil and give precedence to the rights of Allah Almighty over the interests of people who oppose Him.
