The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “The (Hell) Fire is surrounded by all kinds of desires and passions, while Paradise is surrounded by all kinds of disliked undesirable things.”

Ebu Hureyre r.a.'in nakline göre Resulullah Sallallahu Aleyhi ve Sellem: "Cehennem şehvet perdeleriyle, cennet de nefsin hoş!anmadığı mükellefiyet perdeleriyle perdelenip örtü!müştür" buyurmuştur. Fethu'l-Bari Açıklaması: "Cehennemin şehvet perdeleriyle örtülmüş olduğu." Bu hüküm herkes için geçerlidir. Ebu Nuaym'in rivayetinde "hudbet" yerine "huffet" kelimesi yer almaktadır ki manası cehennem şehvet perdeleriyle örtülmüştür demek olur.

What it means

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) points out that Hellfire is surrounded by desirable things, namely the commission of sins or the failure to perform duties. So, whoever follows his desires in this regard deserves Hellfire. And that Paradise is surrounded by undesirable things, like persistence and patience in observing the commands and avoiding the prohibitions. So, whoever determines and strives to do this deserves Paradise.

What it teaches

  • One of the reasons behind succumbing to vain desires is that the devil adorns wrong and ugly things, and so they seem good in a person's eyes, so he inclines to them.
  • It commands us to keep away from the prohibited desires, for they lead to Hellfire, and to patiently endure adversities, for they lead to Paradise.
  • It points out the merit of diligence and self-struggle in performing the acts of worship and enduring the adversities and hardships associated with that.
