The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “The poor person is not the one for whom a date or two or a morsel or two (of food is sufficient but the poor person is he who does not (beg or) ask the people (for something) or show his poverty at all. Recite if you wish, (Allah’s Statement): ‘They do not beg of people at all.’ (Al-Baqarah 2:273).”

Ebu Hureyreden nakIedilen hadisi verdi. Bu hadisin açıkIamasl "Kitabu'z-zekat" bölümünde geçmişti

What it means

This Hadīth clarifies the true meaning of poverty and informs that a praiseworthy needy who deserves charity more, is the one who abstains from begging. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not consider the one who goes around and begs a real needy, because he takes what suffices him and may receive Zakah, ending his poverty. However, the need of someone who does not beg continues because he does not receive things through begging and asking people.
