The Verse “And eat and drink until the white thread appears to you distinct from the black thread.” was revealed, but: ‘. of dawn was not revealed (along with it). So some men, when intending to fast, used to tie their legs, one with white thread and the other with black thread and would keep on eating till they could distinguish one thread from the other. Then Allah revealed. of dawn,’ whereupon they understood that meant the night and the day.

Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Abu Maryam] Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Ghassan Muhammad bin Mutharrif] Telah menceritakan kepadaku [Abu Hazim] dari [Sahal bin Sa'ad] dia berkata; Ketika turun ayat; "dan makan minumlah kamu sehingga terang bagimu benang putih dari benang hitam. (Q.S.Al Baqarah: 187).

O zaman من الفجر mine'l-fecri (Sabahın) kaydı inmemişti. İnsanlar oruç tutmaya niyetlenince içlerinden biri ayaklarına beyaz ve siyah iplik bağladı. Onlar birbirinden seçilinceye kadar yiyip içmeye devam etti.

Bunun üzerine Allah Teala ayetin من الفجر mine'l-fecri (Sabahın) kısmını indirdi. Bu sayede bu ayetin, gecenin gündüzden ayrılması manasına geldiğini anladılar
