حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ» يَقُولُ شُكْرَكُمْ «أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ» تَقُولُونَ مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا وَكَذَا بِنَجْمِ كَذَا وَكَذَا حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ رَفَعَهُ «وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ» قَالَ مُؤَمَّلٌ قُلْتُ لِسُفْيَانَ إِنَّ إِسْرَائِيلَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ صِبْيَانٌ صِبْيَانٌ
“And instead (of thanking Allah) for the provision He gives you, you deny (Him by disbelief)”: you say, ‘We were given rain by such-and-such a star.’ It was narrated from Ali, in a marfoo’ report: ‘And instead (of thanking Allah) for the provision He gives you’. Muʼammal said: I said to Sufyan: Israeel narrated it in a marfoo report (i.e., attributed to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). He said: Boys, boys.
