حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ هِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ
يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفُرْقَانِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَقْرَؤُهَا وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْرَأَنِيهَا فَأَخَذْتُ بِثَوْبِهِ فَذَهَبْتُ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفُرْقَانِ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَقْرَأْتَنِيهَا فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ فَقَرَأَ الْقِرَاءَةَ الَّتِي سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْهُ فَقَالَ هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي اقْرَأْ فَقَرَأْتُ فَقَالَ هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ أُنْزِلَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ فَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدٍ الْقَارِيِّ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ مَرَرْتُ بِهِشَامِ بْنِ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْفُرْقَانِ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ
I heard Hisham ibn Hakeem reciting Sooratul-Furqan in prayer in a manner other than I recited it, and the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had taught it to me. I caught him by his garment and brought him to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), and said: O Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), I heard this man reciting Sooratul Furqan in a manner other than you taught it to me.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘Recite it.’ He recited it in the manner in which I had heard him recite, and the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘Thus it was revealed.’
Then he said to me: ‘Recite it.’ So I recited it and he said: “Thus it was revealed. This Qur’an has been revealed in seven modes of recitation, so recite whatever is easy for you.” It was narrated that al Miswar ibn Makhramah and Abdur-Rahman ibn Abdul-Qari heard Umar say: I passed by Hisham ibn Hakeem ibn Hizam when he was reciting Sooratul Furqan. and he mentioned a similar hadeeth.
