I heard my father say that his father heard Abu Bakr saying: I said to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam): O Messenger of Allah, are we striving for something that has already been decided or is it something to be decided as events unfold? He said: ‘Rather it is for something that has already been decided.’ I said: So why should we strive, O Messenger of Allah? He said: “Each person will be enabled to do that for which he has been created.”.
