Al-Mugheerah ibn Shubah had a spear, and when we went out with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) on a campaign, he would take it with him and stick it in the ground. And the people would pass by him and give him a ride. I said: When I go to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) I will tell him. He said: If you do that, no one will pick up a lost item.
