Surah Al-Infitaar 82
The Cleaving”19 Ayat
When the sky breaks apart
And when the stars fall, scattering,
And when the seas are erupted
And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
No! But you deny the Recompense.
And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
Noble and recording;
They know whatever you do.
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
And never therefrom will they be absent.
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.
The Virtues of Surat Al-Infitar
An-Nasa'i recorded from Jabir that Mu'adh stood and lead the people in the Night prayer, and he made the recitation of his prayer long. So the Prophet ﷺ said,
(Are you putting the people to trial O Mu'adh? Why don't you recite (Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High)(87), (By the forenoon)(93), and (When the heaven is cleft asunder)(82)?)"
The basis of this Hadith is found in the Two Sahihs, however the mentioning of
(When the heaven is cleft asunder.) has only been mentioned by An-Nasa'i. It has been previously mentioned in a narration from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that the Prophet ﷺ said,
(Whoever would be pleased to look at the Day of Resurrection with his own eyes, then let him recite, (When the sun is Kuwwirat.)(81) and; (When the heaven is cleft asunder)(82) and; (When the heaven is split asunder)(84).)
