80:1The Prophet frowned and turned awayعَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ80:1عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
The Prophet frowned and turned away
80:2Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ80:2أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting].
80:3But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purifiedوَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ80:3وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified
80:4Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ80:4أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?
80:5As for he who thinks himself without need,أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ80:5أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
As for he who thinks himself without need,
80:6To him you give attention.فَأَنتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّىٰ80:6فَأَنتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّىٰ
To him you give attention.
80:7And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ80:7وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
80:8But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ80:8وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
80:9While he fears [Allah],وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ80:9وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ
While he fears [Allah],
80:10From him you are distracted.فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ80:10فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ
From him you are distracted.
80:11No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ80:11كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder;
80:12So whoever wills may remember it.فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُ80:12فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُ
So whoever wills may remember it.
80:13[It is recorded] in honored sheets,فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ80:13فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ
[It is recorded] in honored sheets,
80:14Exalted and purified,مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍ80:14مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍ
Exalted and purified,
80:15[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ80:15بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,
80:16Noble and dutiful.كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ80:16كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ
Noble and dutiful.
80:17Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُ80:17قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُ
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he.
80:18From what substance did He create him?مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُ80:18مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُ
From what substance did He create him?
80:19From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ80:19مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him;
80:20Then He eased the way for him;ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ80:20ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ
Then He eased the way for him;
80:21Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ80:21ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.
80:22Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُ80:22ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُ
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.
80:23No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُ80:23كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُ
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him.
80:24Then let mankind look at his food -فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِٓ80:24فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِٓ
Then let mankind look at his food -
80:25How We poured down water in torrents,أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا80:25أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا
How We poured down water in torrents,
80:26Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا80:26ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
80:27And caused to grow within it grainفَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا80:27فَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا
And caused to grow within it grain
80:28And grapes and herbageوَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا80:28وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا
And grapes and herbage
80:29And olive and palm treesوَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا80:29وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا
And olive and palm trees
80:30And gardens of dense shrubberyوَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا80:30وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا
And gardens of dense shrubbery
80:31And fruit and grass -وَفَٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا80:31وَفَٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا
And fruit and grass -
80:32[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.مَّتَٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ80:32مَّتَٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock.
80:33But when there comes the Deafening Blastفَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ80:33فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
80:34On the Day a man will flee from his brotherيَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ80:34يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ
On the Day a man will flee from his brother
80:35And his mother and his fatherوَأُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ80:35وَأُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ
And his mother and his father
80:36And his wife and his children,وَصَٰحِبَتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ80:36وَصَٰحِبَتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ
And his wife and his children,
80:37For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ80:37لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.
80:38[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ80:38وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -
80:39Laughing, rejoicing at good news.ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ80:39ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ
Laughing, rejoicing at good news.
80:40And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ80:40وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.
80:41Blackness will cover them.تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ80:41تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ
Blackness will cover them.
80:42Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.أُولَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ80:42أُولَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
